Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Interment will be later at the Otis Cemetery. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Januat 2 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Myrl Dunlop in 1998 a granddaughter, Beth Perry in 2014 and a brother-in-law, Guy Steeves. Merilla is survived by three daughters, Deborah Haines (Gerald), Pamela Billings (Stephen) and Denise Hoyt (Martin), all of Nackawic, NB seven grandchildren, Scott Haines (Kim), Jason Haines (Erin), Natasha Cronkhite (Andy), Shawn Billings (Jennifer), Sarah Derrah (Brett), Tyler Hoyt (Annette) and Chelsea Northrup (Derek) a grandson-in-law, Neil Perry thirteen great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Zachary, Leah, Avery, Abrianna, Seporah, Ethan, Rory, Nathan, Ezra, Eliza, Pierce and Finley a sister, Ardath Steeves, Riverview, NB several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in the Dunlop family several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Meductic Superior School in 1942 and Provincial Normal School in 1943. Sometimes there were two obituaries published a day or two apart and these are.

Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Alix, Quynn, Rainen, Jake, Marisa, Mathew, Madeleine and Amelia. Devoted mother of Christine Dunlop (David Oates), Karen Mulvey (Tom), Kathie Dunlop and Daniel Dunlop (Denise).
